Single Tooth Replacements in Traverse City, MI
If you have even one missing tooth, you may have experienced the effects it’s had on your life. Living with gaps in your smile affects your appearance and also your health. If you find yourself hiding your smile in social situations or having trouble eating properly, you may benefit from a single tooth replacement.
What Is a Single Tooth Replacement?
When you’re missing one tooth or multiple teeth in different areas of your mouth, Dr. Klym will replace it with a dental implant. This restoration consists of three parts — implant fixture, abutment, and the crown.
Each part is made of strong, durable material to ensure the implant acts as a natural tooth. The implant fixture, or the root of the tooth, is made of a durable titanium material. The abutment connector piece is also made of a material such as titanium to add extra strength. To ensure the crown looks as real as possible, they’re made of strong porcelain material.
Placing A Dental Implant
During your initial consultation, we’ll take digital images of your teeth to ensure your replacement blends in flawlessly. We’ll also simulate an image of your teeth to show you what your complete smile will look like after your dental implant is placed.
Single tooth replacements typically take two separate visits to complete, but sometimes they can be done in one. Dr. Klym will provide you with sedation dentistry to make sure you’re completely comfortable and don’t feel a thing during the procedure.
When you come back to our office for your second appointment, Dr. Klym will insert the implant fixture directly into your jawbone. This ensures the tooth is stable and also stimulates additional bone growth. It takes time for your jaw to heal around the implant, so Dr. Klym will need an additional appointment to complete the restoration.
During your third and final appointment, your porcelain crown will be placed over the implant fixture and abutment. Dr. Klym uses his advanced technology to precisely place the crown and ensure it blends into your smile.
The Benefits of a Single Tooth Replacement
Once you receive your dental implant you’ll immediately start experiencing the benefits. You’ll notice yourself smiling more and wanting to show off your smile rather than hiding it.
Since large gaps due to missing teeth can make chewing evenly more difficult and also make it easier for food to become trapped, you might’ve noticed your oral health declining. With a full smile thanks to dental implants, you’ll be able to eat more freely and see an improvement in your oral health.
